Scan business cards
Take a photo of one card or a whole stack. LASSO reads each one and checks your accounts, and nothing saves until you look it over.
Card scanning lives on the Scan card tab on a phone and the Business cards page on a computer. You can also tap Add (the plus sign on a phone), then Scan a business card.
Scan one card
- Tap Take a photo of a card to use your camera, or Upload card photos to pick a photo you already took.
- Wait a moment while LASSO says "Reading the card."
- Look at the top of the result. Read it. No duplicate found. means the company is new to you. Might already be in your accounts means LASSO found a likely match by email domain or a similar name.
- Under Save as, pick where the card goes:
- Add to an account LASSO matched, which adds the person as a contact there.
- New account + contact for a company you will work with.
- Lead when you are not sure yet and want to follow up first.
- Check the fields LASSO read: name, title, company, facility type (its best guess), email, office and mobile phone, street, city and state. Fix anything it got wrong.
- For a new account, fill in the account type, activity type and industry. Fields your company requires are marked with a star.
- Optionally, type Where you met, such as a trade show or a site visit.
- Tap Save, or Discard to throw the scan away.
Scan a stack of cards
After a trade show or a long day, scan them all at once and save them together from the card stack.
- Pick one of three ways in:
- Upload card photos and choose several photos at once.
- Lay out several cards (up to about 8) on a table and take one photo. LASSO reads every card in it.
- Rapid scan a stack. The camera stays open inside LASSO. Snap a card, or a few laid out together, then the next batch. Tap Done when you finish.
- LASSO shows "Reading photos" with a count. Keep LASSO open until it finishes. You can start reviewing the cards that are already done.
- Open the Card stack. Each card has its own row with a cropped picture of the card and a tag:
- New account: no match, so it would make a new account.
- Adds to an account: a strong match, so the person joins that account.
- Already in an account: this person is already there, so the row starts unticked.
- Check name: no last name was read.
- Tap a row (or its pencil) to open Check this card. Fix the fields and tap Save changes, or tap Review on its own to handle it like a single card.
- If any picked cards make new accounts, fill in For new accounts: account type, activity type, industry and where you met. These fill in for every new account in the batch.
- Tick the cards to save, or use Select all.
- Tap Save to accounts, or Save as leads to make them all leads instead. Discard throws the picked cards away.
Any card that can't be saved stays in the stack, and LASSO lists what needs fixing. Tap it, fix it, and save again. Photos that could not be read show at the bottom; retake them or tap Clear these.
After you save
- A card saved as an account opens to that account, with the person as a contact.
- A card saved as a lead shows on the Leads page (More, then Leads).
- Cards you save count in Activity under Cards saved.
