Who decides

The people you need to reach at data centers.

Ask for them in this order. LASSO keeps each one as a contact on the account, with notes and the next step.

  1. 1

    Facility manager

The facility or critical facilities manager owns uptime for cooling, power and fire protection, and plans maintenance windows carefully. Data centers rarely take walk-ins, so call ahead, ask for the facility manager by title, and book a time.

  2. 2

    Operations director

At colocation and enterprise sites, the operations director signs off on vendors and the maintenance plan. Expect security checks, insurance requirements and references before any work starts.

  3. 3

    Regional or corporate engineering

When one operator runs several sites, contracts may be set above the building. LASSO groups sites by operator so you can see when one conversation covers several buildings.

What LASSO finds

The reasons a building is worth a stop.

Data centers often have few Google reviews, and many are about service rather than the building, so size, expansion and hiring carry more of the score. Every reason is labeled measured or a sign.

  • measuredSquare feet. From the operator's website or county records once they're loaded for your states, with 100,000 sq ft or more counted as large.
  • measuredExpansion. A new building, expansion or new construction mentioned on the listing, website or a recent review.
  • measuredMaintenance hiring. A maintenance technician posting found by the weekly job watch near your area.
  • measuredSeveral sites. One operator behind several sites in your search, matched by a shared website.
  • a signIndependent or regional operator. No national operator found, so the site may choose its own vendors.
  • marked downNational operator. Large national data center operators on the brand list are marked down because facilities work is often contracted company-wide.

Working these buildings

How reps get from the front desk to a proposal.

  1. 1

    Book, don't knock

Data centers are secured buildings, and walk-ins rarely get past the guard desk. Call ahead, or leave a card and a QR leave-behind at security so the facility manager can pick a time from your open slots.

  2. 2

    Lead with uptime

Facility managers care about cooling, power and fire protection that never go down. Ask how they handle maintenance windows and what their current vendor misses before you talk about price.

  3. 3

    Map the operator

Regional operators may run several sites, and some data rooms sit inside larger buildings run by someone else. Note who decides at each site and link each site to the operator's account.

Why teams pick LASSO

Most field sales apps hand your rep a map. LASSO hands them a reason to stop.

Pins and routes are the easy part. The work is knowing which buildings to visit, what to say there, and what happens after the door.

Where leads come from

You import a list or drop pins by hand.

LASSO finds the buildings near your reps and scores every one, with the reasons.

Why this building

An address and a pin color.

Review complaints quoted with the date, plus size, operator and job postings, each marked measured or a sign.

At the door

Notes typed later, if anyone remembers.

One tap for the outcome. One voice note drafts the note, the deal, the follow-up and the next stop.

The route

Stops in the order someone added them.

Ordered by distance from the rep, kept inside business hours, closing-soon stops first.

For the manager

Calls around to find out who went where.

Team Live and day trails for reps who share, plus a weekly scoreboard.

Questions

Selling to data centers: what reps ask.

Something else? Ask us and a person replies.

How do you sell facility services to data centers?

Call ahead and ask for the facility or critical facilities manager by title, then book a time. Lead with uptime and maintenance windows, and expect security and insurance checks before any work.

What counts as a data center in LASSO?

The data center building type pulls data centers plus internet service, telecom and computer security companies from Google listings anywhere in the US. A rep can dismiss the ones that don't fit, and they stay hidden for the whole company.

Why are national data center operators scored low?

Large national operators on LASSO's brand list are marked down because facilities work is often contracted company-wide. They stay on the list in case a local site buys on its own.

Are data center reviews worth reading?

There usually aren't many, and reviews of internet providers are often about service rather than the building, so treat review reasons here with care. Size, expansion, maintenance hiring and the operator carry more weight.

Does the field app work where the signal is weak?

Screens a rep already opened stay readable without a signal, and changes save when the signal returns. Photos, voice notes, lead search and maps need a connection.
