Import a spreadsheet
Bring your Excel or CSV tracker into LASSO. Rows become accounts, contacts and follow-ups, and nothing you already have gets overwritten.
If you kept your customers in a spreadsheet, you can bring it in yourself. LASSO reads the file in your browser, guesses which column is which, shows you what it will do, and saves nothing until you say so.
Before you start
- The file can be .xlsx, .xls or .csv.
- One row per company or one row per contact both work. Rows for the same company become one account with several contacts.
- Up to 3,000 rows go in at a time. Split a bigger file into parts.
- The accounts you import are yours. They show in your lists, on your map and in your stop list suggestions.
Pick the file and the tabs
- Go to More, then Import your tracker. You can also tap Import on the Accounts tab.
- Tap Pick a spreadsheet and choose your file.
- If the file has more than one tab, LASSO asks Which tabs? Tick each tab to bring in and tap Next. Account tabs go in first, then contacts are matched to them by company name.
Match your columns
- Under Match your columns, every column in your sheet has a dropdown with LASSO's best guess and a few sample values from that column.
- Fix any guess that is wrong. Set a column to Skip this column to leave it out.
- Make sure one column is set to Company / account name. LASSO needs it.
- Under For new accounts, you can pick an account type and an activity type to use when a row has none. These labels use your company's own words.
LASSO can fill: company, contact full name (or first and last name), title, email, phone, mobile, street, city, state, ZIP, website, facility type, industry, account type, activity type, last contact date, next follow-up date, next step, notes, top customer, managed by, and where you met or found them. A full address in one column is split into street, city, state and ZIP.
What the special columns do
- Last contact date sets when the account was last in touch, so Gone quiet works from day one.
- Next follow-up date and Next step / to do become a follow-up on the account.
- Top customer (Y / X) stars the account.
- Managed by (property management company) links each property to its management company. If that company is not in LASSO yet, the import adds it.
- Your sheet's wording for types is matched to your company's dropdown lists. The original account type is kept in each account's notes.
Check, then import
- Tap Check for duplicates. Nothing is saved yet.
- Read the summary: new accounts, accounts already in LASSO, contacts and follow-ups. Open the lists under it to see which rows matched accounts you already have, how your wording was matched, and which rows were skipped and why.
- If your company uses Salesforce, leave Also send new accounts to Salesforce off when these companies are already in Salesforce.
- Tap the Import button. It shows how many companies will come in.
- When it is done, tap See accounts or Fill in missing info.
Undo an import
- Go to More, then Import your tracker.
- Under Past imports, find the file and tap Undo.
- Confirm. LASSO tells you how many accounts it removed.
Undo removes the new accounts and contacts that import added, unless you have used them since. Blanks it filled on accounts you already had stay filled.
Clean up afterward
Go to More, then Fill in missing info. It has a tab each for accounts missing a facility type, account type, activity type or address, plus a Duplicates tab.
- Pick a value on a row and it saves right away. Addresses have their own Save button on each row.
- On the account type and activity type tabs, tick several rows and use Set for checked rows to fill them all at once.
- On the facility type tab, Suggest with AI proposes types from the account names. Check them, change any that are wrong, then save.
- On the Duplicates tab, tap Keep first or Keep second to merge two accounts that are the same company. The contacts, deals and history move to the one you keep, and you can undo it from Recently deleted on the Accounts tab.
- Accounts need an address to show on the map and in your stop list.
