Who decides

The people you need to reach at warehouses and manufacturing.

Ask for them in this order. LASSO keeps each one as a contact on the account, with notes and the next step.

  1. 1

    Plant or maintenance manager

The maintenance manager cares about uptime, safety and keeping equipment and docks working through every shift. Ask at the front office or shipping desk for them by title, and visit outside shift changes.

  2. 2

    Operations or facilities manager

At distribution centers, the operations or facilities manager handles the building, the roof, the lighting and the dock doors. They're often out on the floor, so leave a card and a QR leave-behind with the front office.

  3. 3

    Owner

At smaller manufacturers and cold storage companies, the owner often still signs the contracts. A short, specific visit about one problem you can fix usually gets further than a general pitch.

What LASSO finds

The reasons a building is worth a stop.

Warehouses often have few Google reviews, so size, expansion and hiring carry more of the score. Every reason is labeled measured or a sign.

  • measuredSquare feet. From the listing, the company's website, or county records once they're loaded for your states, with 100,000 sq ft or more counted as large.
  • measuredExpansion. An expansion, addition or new building mentioned on the listing, website or a recent review.
  • measuredMaintenance hiring. A maintenance technician posting found by the weekly job watch near your area.
  • measuredSeveral sites. One company behind several buildings in your search, matched by a shared website.
  • a signPosting matched by name. A maintenance job posting matched to the company by name during a full check counts only as a sign.
  • marked downRetailer's distribution center. A warehouse tied to a big-box or grocery chain on the brand list is marked down because its maintenance is often set by the corporate office.

Working these buildings

How reps get from the front desk to a proposal.

  1. 1

    Go through the front office

Warehouses and plants control who comes on site, and walking onto the dock is a fast way to get turned away. Ask the front office or shipping desk for the maintenance or facilities manager, and avoid shift changes.

  2. 2

    Bring up hiring and expansion

A plant hiring maintenance technicians may be short-handed, and an expansion means new work is coming. Bring it up directly and ask how they're covering the gap.

  3. 3

    Leave something for the floor

Maintenance managers are usually out on the floor when you arrive. Leave a card and a QR leave-behind at the front office, and drop a come-back pin for the day they tell you to return.

Why teams pick LASSO

Most field sales apps hand your rep a map. LASSO hands them a reason to stop.

Pins and routes are the easy part. The work is knowing which buildings to visit, what to say there, and what happens after the door.

Questions

Selling to warehouses and manufacturing: what reps ask.

Something else? Ask us and a person replies.

How do you sell to warehouses and manufacturing plants?

Go through the front office and ask for the maintenance or facilities manager. Expansion, maintenance hiring and building size are the strongest reasons to ask, since warehouses often have few Google reviews.

Does LASSO cover cold storage and manufacturing?

Yes. The warehouse building type covers warehouses, distribution and logistics companies, cold storage, manufacturers and food processing, from Google listings anywhere in the US.

How does LASSO spot a plant that's hiring maintenance?

When a rep turns on the weekly job watch, LASSO searches near their area for maintenance job postings and adds new employers as prospects, which counts as measured. A posting matched by name during a full check counts only as a sign.

Why is a retailer's distribution center scored low?

Warehouses tied to a big-box or grocery chain on LASSO's brand list are marked down, because their maintenance is often set by the corporate office. They stay in the results in case you want to ask.

Does the scoring work for roofing contractors?

The building profile was built for building systems work, electrical included, and reads size, expansion, hiring and ownership. A profile tuned to roofing is in development; until it's ready, the finder uses the building profile and the field app works today.
